UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and #2 ranked middleweight Jared Cannonier has begun the verbal back and forth face to face ahead of their battle at UFC 276 main event. This will be Adesanya’s fifth title defence coming into this weekend and this will be Cannonier’s first title shot in the UFC. Cannonier is a veteran of light-heavyweight and heavyweight and is the first fighter in the modern era of the UFC to score knockouts in 3 weight classes.

Adesanya is currently ranked #3 in the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings and is also one of the highest-paid athletes in the company. A former Glory champion, Adesanya wrapped his kickboxing career with a record of 75 wins and just 5 losses. Coming into MMA, it took Adesanya only 18 months in the UFC to fight for the title and dethrone the preceding champion, that too via spectacular knockout. Also, Adesanya is undefeated as a middleweight.

In the press conference for UFC 276, both Cannonier and Adesanya had a little bit of back and forth against each other. They were able to pull off the competitive energy despite fellow middleweight Sean Strickland stealing the show by poking Adesanya verbally. Here’s what Adesanya had to say about Cannonier.

“Before the start of this [training] camp, Eugene [Adesanya’s coach] said ‘the last camp was great, how can you top it?’ I felt like I did that,” says Adesanya “And I am hearing he is talking about easy work, easy work, [looking at Cannonier] who’s the last person you made look easy… exactly, you made no one look easy, time and time again and guess what? You’re next, Imma make you easy work,” continued Adesanya.

Cannonier kept on saying the same thing as Adesanya’s last words- “Imma make you easy work.” Other than that, Cannonier refrained from talking much any way other than what exactly answers the journalists’ questions. Who do you think wins this fight? Will “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya still reign supreme or will “Killa Gorilla” Cannonier pull off a huge upset? In theory, where do you put Cannonier amongst the toughest fights of Adesanya?
