The UFC 293 main event between Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya may have gotten personal. Strickland’s remarks about the alleged molestation of Adesanya’s pet dog have fueled up the champion. Apparently, the pet dog passed away, and the champion missed his pet.

During the ESPN weigh-in show, Adesanya responded in kind to Strickland’s accusations. He said, “He went deep and the worst thing he did was bring up my dead homie and I’m gonna go John Wick on this man. John Wick is a fictional assassin from the film series of the same name. The film’s plot begins after a bunch of people kill Wick’s dog and steal his car. This puts Wick on a path of revenge. Adesanya referencing John Wick would most likely mean that the champion is going for a knockout. Keanu Reeves plays John Wick in the movie.

The UFC 293 press conference provided fireworks for the crowd. Interestingly, the crowd cheered for Sean Strickland against the presumed hometown favorite in Adesanya. The event witnessed Manel Kape showing off his character and Tai Tuivasa being the funny man as always. The only one out of place was Alexander Volkov, who seemed confused about the altercations on stage. Overall, the presser was a treat for the fans, who, for the most part, sided with Sean Strickland.

Dricus Du Plessis was the original opponent for UFC 293. Sean Strickland got the call after Du Plessis withdrew due to injury. Adesanya and the South African have the biggest beef in the division. UFC 290 saw both the fighters face-off inside the octagon with the champion race-baiting “Stillknocks.”

Israel Adesanya would not stoop to the level of Sean Strickland

Sean Strickland drew first blood when he went guns blazing to troll Israel Adesanya. The champion has already come forth and said about “going John Wick” on his opponent. The challenger trolled Adesanya, being an alleged CCP sympathizer and dog molester.

In his ESPN weigh-in show, Israel Adesanya explained that he chose not to go the same route as the challenger. Adesanya referenced Strickland for his past association with a Neo-Nazi organization and the alleged dog killing. But Adesanya was reassured by his team not to stoop low. The champion thought that the challenger was aware of being unmatched and outgunned.

The event was already being touted as a top-heavy card. However, Sean Strickland has done his part in generating interest in a relatively weak pay-per-view event. The most unpredictable thing that happened at the event was Manel Kape and Adesanya going at each other.
