“It would be better if it is South Africa,” Israel Adesanya vows to ‘whoop’ Dricus Du Plessis’ in ‘his own country’ after failing to fight at UFC 293

Israel Adesanya still hopes to fight Dricus Du Plessis in South Africa and emerge victorious on African soil. In July, Izzy and Du Plessis went face-to-face in a heated altercation inside the octagon. Adesanya had every expectation that Du Plessis and he would settle their score at UFC 293. However, Du Plessis suffered a foot injury that forced him to stay away from fighting, which opened up the opportunity for Sean Strickland to fight for the title.
While Izzy is preparing for his upcoming fight, the champion believes that he will definitely fight Du Plessis in the future, and it will be regarded as one of the biggest sporting events in history.
“When it happens, it will be one the biggest fights in sporting history. All in due time. It could happen in South Africa,” Adesanya told MMA Fighting. “It could happen somewhere on the great continent of Africa. It could happen in Nigeria, Morocco, even South Africa — it would be better if we had it in South Africa. I’d like to whoop his ass in his own home country.”
According to Izzy, the fight can take place in Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, etc. But he would prefer to give Du Plessis a loss in his homeland. Due to the fact that Du Plessis still stays and trains in Africa, whereas Adesanya was born in Nigeria but now calls New Zealand home, the heated rivalry between the middleweights erupted after Dricus Du Plessis boasted ambitions to take the belt back to his continent. It seems like Izzy has no intention of forgetting any of that.
Sean Strickland doesn’t plan to use wrestling against Israel Adesanya in their upcoming flash
Strickland has finally got a chance to fight for the title against the mighty Israel Adesanya and the pair is going to trade punches at UFC 293 next month. Fighting against an elite striker like Adesanya, fans expect Sean Strickland to use wrestling, as he’s good at BJJ. However, the fighter doesn’t think that way.
He said: “I’ve been wrestling a lot in camp but sometimes you know, you get up there and you look at another man and I think to myself, I want to f****** stand and bang with this guy…So I probably should wrestle but that’s probably not going to happen. It’s not going to happen. But I should wrestle, I’ve been planning to wrestle.”
According to ‘Tarzan’, he knows it would be wise to use wrestling against Izzy. Getting a takedown, holding him down, and finally submitting Izzy would be great but Strickland plans to keep the fight on foot and lands some nasty shots on the champion.
