Israel Adesanya shocked the world by knocking out Alex Pereira at UFC 287. Possibly the ‘knockout of the year’ Izzy’s right punch to Alex Pereira came out of nowhere and dropped Pereira out cold.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, the ‘Last Stylebender’ talked about the whole sequence that led to the knockout. Israel Adesanya revealed that he baited the Brazilian to close down on the fence and get super comfortable. Izzy then mentioned how Pereira became overconfident at that moment, and it was the moment when Adesanya landed that nasty right hand.
He said, “I baited him, just set. I wanted him to feel comfortable, like throw a reckless abandonment. He thinks i’m a punching bag now, I’m not these other f***** blood clots. I came off the fence as well like I bounced off the fence.”
Adesanya was extremely smart with that trap and also showed clips of his training session practising the same move. It was just a clinical and precise execution of the game plan from a master of the sport.

Israel Adesanya warns other fighters who will face Alex Pereira after him
Alex Pereira was the toughest ever challenger that Israel Adesanya has faced in his whole career. Both have fought four times, and Izzy only managed to win once, however, he shared his insights with other fighters on the roster.
According to Izzy, other fighters should focus on taking down Pereira and controlling him on the ground, as it will be very easy. Izzy warned other competitors not to strike with Pereira as he’s too good at it. He said, “Good luck to the next motherf****** fighting this guy. They’re gonna see how ‘easy’ it is. Take him down. That’s like the best thing you can do. But if you want to stand with this guy, f***** good luck. You’re gonna need it,” said Izzy on his YouTube channel.
Right now, it’s unsure what Pereira plans to do next. Many are speculating that ‘Potan‘ might move up and fight at light heavyweight next. It will be interesting to see his next move in UFC.
