Tyson Pedro did what he does best. He has finished all his victories in the first round, and the UFC 293 main card opener was no different. After the feeling-out process, Pedro delivered a series of accurate blows that put Anton Turkalj out.
Even more impressive than the finish was the post-fight celebration. Tyson Pedro channeled his inner Samurai to put on a standout celebration. Being a fighter at City Kickboxing does have its perks. It seems that Pedro might have gotten the inspiration from Israel Adesanya‘s post-fight celebration at UFC 287. The archer shooting bows thrice celebration was a thing of beauty. Pedro’s celebration has taken the social media world into a frenzy. The Spinning Backfist X account posted the celebration with the caption, “Add this celly to UFC 5 IMMEDIATELY #UFC293”. The caption is enough to know about the impact.
Tyson Pedro was coming off a decision loss in his last bout to Modestas Bukauskas at UFC 284. Pedro kept his record with the first-round finish, finishing all his wins in the first round intact. Anton Turkalj is now winless in his UFC career. Turkalj trained with Volkan Oezdemir and Khamzat Chimaev for the fight. Turkalj trains at All-Stars MMA in Sweden. Chimaev is in pole position to contend for the title against Israel Adesanya if victorious at UFC 294.
Pedro will be looking to build on this victory and continue his ascension in the light heavyweight rankings. He holds noteworthy victories over Paul Craig and Khalil Rountree Jr. before a knee injury kept him out for three years. He suffered a knee injury during his bout with Mauricio Rua.
