Jake Paul feels Nate Diaz was “Near Flawless” with his final UFC Fight against Tony Ferguson

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz might be facing each other in the squared circle in the very near future, however for now at least Jake has only nice things to say about his opponent. Recently after his first press conference against Anderson Silva, Jake took out the time to praise Nate on his UFC exit.

Paul and Diaz share the honor of being constant thorns on Dana White’s side as the two always bring up the topic most hated by White, that of fighter pay. While Dana would simply ignore Paul, the same couldn’t be done to Nate, an active UFC employee. Nate himself is no easy negotiator as he very well remembers the days he was making a $20k show-win purse for featuring in co-main events with other elite fighters.

Now after a long time, almost since the start of his career, Nate is finally not bound by any contractual obligations to the UFC. With his victory at UFC 279, Nate became the biggest name in MMA Free Agency. However, his interviews after the fact, suggest he might change sports entirely.

Nate and Tony embrace after their 4-round fight

Nate Diaz was scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 in a 5-round main event. In what was an obvious mismatch from the get-go, not many including Diaz himself wanted any part of this fight. In what was another attempt by the UFC to diminish the brand value of a veteran before he left the organization fired back spectacularly when Chimaev of all people missed weight.

This led to the card being reshuffled at the last minute leaving, Nate and fellow veteran, Tony Ferguson as the main event for the PPV. While the two veterans who seemingly cannot be knocked out were matched up, the consensus was the most likely way the fight would be stopped is due to the cuts Diaz suffered.

Not only did Diaz not suffer a single cut in this 4 round fight, but also managed to become only the second man to ever submit Tony. Needless to say, his stock was now astronomically higher, the very opposite of what the UFC brass intended.

Even Jake Paul gave props to Diaz, hugely publicizing Diaz’s victory across social media and how this was a symbolic F-U to the UFC. After his first press conference, promoting his upcoming boxing match against Anderson Silva, Jake further elaborated his thoughts on Nate’s victory.

“10/10! ” declared Paul as he acclaimed Nate’s performance to be “near flawless” . “He was entertaining, he was fun, he had great striking and then he finished with a submission”, said Jake as he expresses hope that a future fight between the two materializes.
