“Deceitful and Calculated” Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahaman Jr scrapped due to weight issues 1 week before the fight, tickets to be refunded

Paul and Rahman have been sparring partners in the past
Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr could have been the perfect setting to judge the abilities of Paul as an actual boxer. A former sparring of Jake, Rahman agreed to fill in for Tommy Fury after the Englishman was denied entry to the US and was allegedly stopped at the airport by the Department of Homeland Security.
A heated press conference saw the two fighters go head to head, arguing about each other’s abilities with allegations of a soft camp being tossed by Rahman. He alleged that when the two sparred, Rahman was given instructions to not go hard, while Jake put in his all even trying to KO the boxer in a sparring session, something that Rahman would describe as “Amateur A**hole behaviour”
A special clause in the contract was that Rahman would have to weigh in under 200 lbs with a limit on rehydration. Failure to comply would end up costing Rahman his entire purse. Rahman until that point had never fought at 200 lbs but was confident that he would be able to do so, weighing around 216 when the fight was agreed upon

Jake Paul reveals Rahman planned to weigh in 15 lbs over the contracted limit

Seems like Paul headlining an MSG event is a cursed dealing as MVP Promotions (Paul’s personal Stable) announced today that the fight had been scrapped as Rahman threatened to pull out of the fight if the weight stipulation had not been changed. The statement by Paul’s promtion read, “At the time of signing Rahman provided evidence of his weight to give comfort to Most Valuable Promotions and the New York State Athletic Commission that he would not be losing more than 10% of his weight over the 4 weeks leading up to the fight,” revealing that Rahman had only lost 1 pound since then and last Saturday.
This misinformation on Rahaman Jr’s part prompted the NY Commission to only sanction the bout if it was held at 205 lbs. something paul agreed to, “A new contract was sent to Rahman’s promoter reflecting a 205 lbs. limit, imposing strict penalties should he fail to make weight. Upon receiving this new contract Saturday morning, Rahman’s camp indicated for the very first time that he planned to weigh 215 lbs” read the statement as Rahman threatened to pull out if the weight stipulation had not been changed.
“MVP and Jake Paul will not reward someone that has conducted themselves in such a deceiving and calculated manner. Therefore, MVP is left with no choice but to cancel the August 6th event,” revealing that instead of booking another short notice fight, Paul would cancel the event entirely and refund the tickets.
