There is no doubt that UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is one of the most dangerous fighters to step into the cage with. Since his debut for the UFC in 2008, Jones has been dominating every opponent he gets to face. However, Jones’s skills are not limited to the Octagon as he is very dangerous outside the ring too. Former MMA world champion Jake Shields recently proved this point with a tweet.
Shields is known for his active Twitter presence and outspoken personality which often leads him into controversy. However, he replied to a person asking about the amount of untrained people it would take to beat Jones on average. Shields replied, “Great question and my guess is around 500 and he would be too worn down and injured and eventually overcome.”
Jones has had a career full of ups and downs during his time in the UFC. Since his debut in the UFC in 2008, Jones has never been finished. The only loss in his UFC career comes from his bout against Matt Hamill in 2009. Jones was disqualified from the fight for landing illegal elbows on his opponent. He has not fought in a non-title fight since 2011.
There is no doubt that Jones is one of the most dangerous fighters both inside and outside the Octagon. However, Shields’s analysis may just be correct as Jones is known for his fight IQ and versatility. Fans will look forward to seeing Bones back in the ring soon.
