Shields expressed confusion over the activists' method of protest

Jake Shields is as confused as all of us with the latest new trend in climate activism, destroying classical art pieces. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion was flabbergasted by the latest route, that climate activists have decided to take.

Last week a duo of teenagers, representing Just Stop Oil, defaced a nearly 150-year-old painting by renowned artist and tragic figure, Vincent Van Gogh. The organization that calls for the stop to new licenses for the exploration and drilling of fossil fuels has become quite mainstream with the wacky ways of protesting.

The duo, who are now under arrest, splashed a can of Heinz Tomato Soup onto the iconic painting, shortly before they glued themselves to a wall.

Shields was equally perplexed by this new form of protest, that harmed art pieces that hold a special place in the history of man itself. Reacting to the video on Twitter he wrote, “I’m having a hard time understanding how destroying classic art helps with climate change”

The painting itself, like many other valuable pieces of art, is behind glass protection, apart from a little damage to its frame, the piece was mostly unharmed.
