“What is success to you,” Jamahal Hill and Sean O’Malley trade words on achievements in the UFC as DWCS veterans

Jamahal Hill- Sean O'Malley

Jamahal Hill seems a little bit baffled with Sean O’Malley’s fame whilst comparing the latter’s record in the UFC so far with his. Hill, a UFC Light-heavyweight, last fought in February 2022 when he knocked out a scary knockout artist in Johnny Walker inside the first round. Hill is known for this uncanny ability to find the right shot at any given situation that leads to a knockout for the highlights. So far, Hill has wins over the likes of Walker, Jimmy Crute, Ovince St-Preux and more.

O’Malley is today one of the most recognizable names in the UFC. O’Malley fights in the bantamweight division and just like Hill, is a knockout artist as well. O’Malley’s last fight didn’t go his way at UFC 276 as the bout ended in a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke from O’Malley’s side. Regardless, O’Malley has viral knockouts over the likes of Eddie Wineland, Thomas Almeida, Raulian Paiva and many more.

Jamahal Hill took to Twitter to talk about O’Malley and his journey starting from Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS). O’Malley got a UFC contract back in 2017 in the first season of the series and Hill entered the UFC through the third season in 2019. Both the fight earned their UFC contract via spectacular knockouts Hill first said on Twitter “Damn I noticed that I’m never in any of the DWCS videos but yet I’m the most successful alumni from the show!!!”

In the follow-up Tweet, that’s where Hill called out O’Malley along with a fact, he said: “Sean is more popular but he has 0 wins over ranked opponents, I have 3 KOs over ranked competitors!!!”

Then O’Malley asked Hill in the comment section “What is your definition of success ?” Hill quoted O’Malley’s question and said “Winning fights again the top fighters in your division let’s start there!!”

What do you make of this brief back and forth between O’Malley and Hill? Doesn’t seem to be beef but do you sense some envy out of Hill or was he just trying to stand up for himself to get his due as a well-recognizable fighter? Hill is next fighting on August 6, 2022, when he will face Thiago Santos in his first-five round battle. Who do you think wins? O’Malley will fight former champion Petr Yan at UFC 280, who do you think wins?
