The former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill reacted to the Chael Sonnen-Ariel Helwani argument on his YouTube channel. Earlier, Helwani invited Sonnen to his MMA Hour show. In the show, they got into a heated argument surrounding the Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury event. Now, Hill called out Helwani for disrespecting a legend like Chael Sonnen.
Jamahal Hill went out on Helwani for calling Sonnen the B-word. Hill said that Helwani wouldn’t act the way he acted if it was an in-person interaction. Then, he showed a video of Helwani escaping a fierce situation at the Dillon Danis-Logan Paul press event. As such, he stated the hypocrisy of Helwani calling others weak. Here is what Hill said on YouTube:
You're only being tough like this, talking all these things because you had a screen between you'all. If Chael Sonnen's on your face, in-person, you're not talking like that...If you're bit** like you are, like we see that you are, be that at all times."Jamahal Hill (via YouTube)
Previously, Jamahal Hill criticized Ariel Helwani for instigating animosity between him and Jiri Prochazka. That beef became public as both of them went back and forth on Twitter. Now, he was not having it with Helwani insulting a respected fighter in Chael Sonnen.
For instance, Helwani started the show by insulting Chael for saying that the Ngannou-Fury fight was lopsided and ridiculous. Still, Sonnen respectfully continued the interview. But, things went south when Sonnen got frustrated with Helwani for reporting false news.
Currently, Jamahal Hill is recovering from an injury. He became the UFC light-heavyweight champion by beating Glover Teixeira in UFC 283. Later, he relinquished the title citing an injury so that the division would keep moving. Now, Jiri Prochazka fights Alex Periera for the vacant light-heavyweight title this weekend in UFC 295.
Jamahal Hill talks about Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira
Jamahal Hill posted a video on his YouTube channel talking about the fight for the UFC light-heavyweight title. UFC announced that Jiri Prochazka would face Alex Pereira on his return for the vacated light-heavyweight championship belt.
Jamahal Hill relinquished his title by July 2023 citing a serious injury that would take long for him to heal. Now, he has spoken out about the fight for his vacant title.
Jamahal Hill said that this was an exciting matchup as it would be predominantly a standup fight. He further stated:
I don't know if it ends with a knockout, but I see a way where both men could land and end it with a knockout. I think the knockout is more probable for Alex Pereira. I think if Jiri Prochazka wants to end it within the distance it probably be submission.Jamahal Hill via his YouTube channel
Currently, Jamahal Hill is recovering from his injury of a ruptured Achilles tendon. At the end of the video, he stated that he would return and fight whoever wins this weekend. He looked confident about becoming a champion again.
