UFC 300, the promotions’ landmark PPV event live From T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas, has a lot riding on it. However, the Nevada event means the most to Jamahal Hill. He aims to win back his title gold. And consequently, Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira will make his maiden defense. To that end, Jamahal Hill has recruited the help of the best option – Israel Adesanya.

Hill, the belt’s previous owner, vacated it after a ruptured Achilles tendon at a basketball game during UFC 290 Fight Week. So, in technical terms, he never lost his stake in gold. 2-0 since departing the middleweight class, Pereria now holds it. The 2-division UFC and GLORY champ has had a substantial history with Adesanya. Hence, here is what Hill says about The Last Stylebender:

His IG Stories show a snap of his face-timing the former 185 lbs champion. ‘Poatan‘ defeated Adesanya at UFC 281, who won back the hardware at UFC 287 via a 2nd-round KO. He is 3-1 over Adesanya in MMA and GLORY. Israel Adesanya often catches fan flak for flaunting his only KO win over him. However, Pereira is all ready to bury the hatchet with him.

Making a title defense that got bumped from UFC 301 and signing a new 8-fight contract, Pereira has much to focus on. Hence, he’s willing to let bygones be so. It doesn’t mean though that Hill cannot enlist the help of a commonality. As such, he is confident he can knock down the champ when the time comes.

Jamahal Hill weighs in on ‘mismatch’ Alex Pereira; aims to knock him out

Jamahal Hill is out for the 205lbs gold. Not something he had lost. But something he had to forfeit preemptively. However, that does not diminish his resolve to knock out Alex Pereira by much. Pereira’s hyped maiden defense for the gold comes in the form of Hill at the historic UFC 300 headliner.

Ahead of this, both fighters have engaged in social media rounds. One was the prime UFC 300 Q&A Session sitdown with ESPN MMA‘s Megan Olivi. Another was with The MMA Hour‘s Ariel Helwani, where Alex Pereira snubbed down Hill to the #4 best light heavyweight in the current roster.

Currently, Jamahal Hill did a similar segment with MMA journo James Lynch (@lynchonsports). He nudged that even though he respected the opponent, Pereira did not match up to his skill set. Check out what he said, courtesy of his IG reels below:

Hill recently enlisted the help of former champ Israel Adesanya in a one-to-one. With a robust 24-3 MMA and 13-3 UFC stats, Adesanya also has 75 wins/4 gargantuan losses in GLORY kickboxing. He is also 5-1 as a pro boxer. So, if there’s anyone who could shed light on kickboxer phenom Pereira, it is Adesanya. Only time will tell if this does any favor for the title challenger come UFC 300.
