Alex Pereira won the light heavyweight title this weekend in UFC 295. Following this feat, Pereira called out his middleweight rival Israel Adesanya. However, the former champion Jamahal Hill remains the next rightful challenger. As such, Hill was in the arena, and the callout to Adesanya didn’t sit well with him. Also, Hill has received negative criticisms from the fight fans for his opinions about Pereira. Now, he fired back at those who condemned him.

Jamahal Hill uploaded a video on YouTube. Hill talked about the disrespect that he received from the MMA community. Further, in an attempt to make his stand, he confidently made a prediction for his bout against Pereira. Here is what Hill said:

I do not plan on taking him down. I do not plan on wrestling him...This is a completely different sport. Kickboxing is kickboxing. MMA is MMA! I've been doing MMA for years. I've been bred in MMA. And whenever I do fight him, standing, I will knock him out.

Jamahal Hill became the light heavyweight champion this year in UFC 283. But, he suffered an unfortunate injury in training and vacated his title in July. Alex Pereira fought Jiri Prochazka for the vacated title in UFC 295 and came out as the victor. This sets up the fight between the two. Also, according to Hill, the UFC promised him a direct title shot upon his return.

With his win at UFC 295, Alex Pereira became only the ninth fighter to win UFC titles in two weight divisions. If not for his kickboxing accomplishments, this made him an accomplished fighter in MMA. But Jamahal Hill remained confident in his abilities and promised to knock him out on his return.

Further, Alex Pereira stated that he was an active fighter and an active champion who wanted to fight more. So, he dismissed Hill as an opponent for his title defense. But, according to Hill and the UFC, they are trying to make it happen. However, Hill’s complete recovery from the injury would take some time, making the champion inactive for a while. Check out what Pereira said below:

‘Sweet Dreams’ entered the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series. Right from, he was seen as a young prospect who could win the title. As such, he became the first male from the DWCS to win the UFC gold. Now, he is expected to face Alex Pereira for the title that he never lost.
