Jan Blachowicz does not shy away from tough challenges. Throughout his career, he has always fought the toughest challenge possible. He will fight the dangerous Brazilian striker Alex Pereira in the 205-pound division this time. Jan is confident that he will defeat Pereira and, in return, get the next title shot.

Jan Blachowicz plans to send Pereira back to the middleweight division. Alex Pereira came to the UFC to hunt down his rival Israel Adesanya in an MMA competition. He defeated Adesanya in their first MMA bout and lost in the second bout at UFC 287. Pereira had to cut almost 45 pounds in both fights to reach the middleweight limit. Since then, Pereira decided to move up a weight class to preserve his health.

Dana White and other analysts hinted about the ‘Poatan’ moving to the 205-pound division as the right decision for his career after UFC 287. Hence, fight fans should not expect a trilogy between Adesanya and Pereira for now. Instead, fight fans should look forward to the different stylistic matchups for Pereira in the light heavyweight division. Blachowicz is the perfect opponent to welcome Alex Pereira to the light heavyweight division.

Blachowicz is a former champion who aims to compete for the title for one last time before his retirement. He is 40 years old and may only compete for two or three more bouts. Jan revealed that a victory over Pereira could get him another UFC title shot. Jan and Pereira will fight at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City.

‘The Polish Power’ asked for the former middleweight champion for his next fight. Pereira is a dangerous matchup for anyone in the division. He possesses deadly striking that can knock out anyone at any time. However, Jan negotiated a high-risk, high-reward type of deal with the UFC. During the MMA hour, The 40-year-old said, “Maybe there was also an idea for them [talking about a title fight]. But I’m happy I got what I wanted.”

Jan revealed, “If I win the fight, my next fight will be for the title.” If the Polish fighter defeats Pereira, it will be interesting to see how the UFC will make a matchup between the three fighters. Due to a shoulder injury, Jiri Prochazka vacated the light heavyweight title last year. He will get an automatic title shot in his return to the octagon.

On the other hand, current light heavyweight king Jamahal Hill will have an option of Jiri, Jan, and Magomed Ankalaev. Only time will tell if Jan can defeat Pereira and compete again for the title.
