“This is NOT about promises,” Jan Blachowicz responds to Jiri Prochazka after the champ claims ZERO assurance of their fight
Jiri Prochazka x Jan Blachowicz
Jan Blachowicz will not stop protesting in support of his title fight against Jiri Prochazka and all his efforts on Twitter are proof of it. Blachowicz, the former UFC light-heavyweight champion, lost his title to Glover Teixeira back in 2021 at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. Teixeira, who was the oldest first-time UFC champion, took his well-deserved victory lap after which Teixeira fought Prochazka and lost the belt to the first ever Czech UFC champion in the Asia’s first ever numbered UFC PPV event at UFC 275 in Singapore.
Now, Prochazka has considered Jan a more exciting challenge, but due to Prochazka having faced difficulties against Teixeira during their fight, Prochazka wants a rematch against the preceding champion and wants to assure his title reign with a rather convenient victory. Blachowicz claims that Prochazka has not kept his “samurai code” as per the champ’s life philosophy and is also preventing making “the biggest MMA fight in Europe’s history”.
Who do you want to put Jiri Prochazka against, Jan Blachowicz or Glover Teixeira?
Not so long ago, Blachowicz urged UFC President Dana White to give him a title shot against Prochazka since Prochazka chose a rematch against Teixeira over him and therefore felt that Prochazka is not the one to keep his word. Prochazka responded sharply, saying “I never promised you our fight @JanBlachowicz I just said you are the challenge what I want to Cut. Second thing is, I am still waiting for answer from @gloverteixeira. If you’re not interested, let me know. I want to fight till the end of this year. No matter who.”
Blachowicz returned to favour of a response in his defence and said, “Jiri @jiri_bjp this is not about promises made. This is a chance for the biggest European fight in the history of this sport. THIS IS IT! We’re both men of action. We both have something to prove to the world. Now the opportunity arises and we can create greatness.”
What do you make of this continued back and forth between both the European elites of the 205 lbs division? Do you think Blachowicz will get his title shot, or do you want to see the rematch between Prochazka and Teixeira more eagerly? How do you think Prochazka will do with each of both the potential opponents? Do you think Blachowicz will become a world champion again?
