“I can sacrifice”- Jan Blachowicz tease to make cut to Middleweight to rematch Israel Adesanya for the Title
Israel Adesanya UFC 259
The honour of being the only MMA fighter to defeat Adesanya belongs to Jan Blachowicz. In the main event of UFC 276 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Israel defeated Jared Cannonier and successfully defended his UFC Middleweight Championship.
The champion was mostly restricted to leg kicks and jabs throughout the fight, and Cannonier was less of a threat as the crowd occasionally booed him in rounds four and five. Some even departed early because it was obvious who would raise their hand. He decided against taking the risk in the end, and Alex Pereira is expected to face him for the middleweight title next. There was no memorable knockout.

A decision victory over Adesanya, the current middleweight champion, by former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan ended The Last Stylebender’s hopes of joining the promotion’s exclusive champ champ club.
In a recent appearance of The MMA Hour, Blachowicz was asked if he believed Adesanya was fighting more cautiously now that their battle was over. He answered, “Maybe this is the reason that now he’s very careful in the fight, to just not lose the fights. So maybe I have to cut the weight and give him rematch in his category. If I have a chance, why not? With Izzy, for his belt? For fight for the belt, I can try.”
For his underwhelming effort in a five-round snoozer victory against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 earlier this month in Las Vegas, Adesanya received harsh criticism. In the next months, he’s likely to rematch with former kickboxing foe Alex Pereira.
