“My next fight for this reason,” Jiri Prochazka reveals opponent of his wish for the first title defence as the light heavyweight champion

Jiri Prochazka has finally decided for the next challenger for his throne at 205 lbs. Prochazka, the current UFC light-heavyweight champion last fought for the belt itself when he became the new champion by defeating preceding champion Glover Teixeira in a title fight to be remembered for the ages at the main event of UFC 275. Prochazka is also the first ever Czech UFC champion. UFC 275 was the first numbered PPV UFC event that happened in Asia.
The title fight was Prochazka’s third UFC fight and therefore became the fighter with second least number of UFC fights taken to become the UFC champion, with middleweight great Anderson Silva still being the one who became the middleweight champion within only 2 UFC fights. Prochazka however has wins over the likes of Teixeira, Dominick Reyes, Volkan Oezdemir, Muhammad Lawal, Vadim Nemkov, C.B. Dolloway, Satoshi Ishii and many more.

On his official Twitter handle, Prochazka let his fans know who he would like to fight next for his first UFC title defence and the name may not surprise you but definitely excite you.
“Hello everybody, I wish you a great day and I made a [decision] for next fight,” says Prochazka “And I wanna fight Glover [Teixeira], the next fight. Not because it will be another big fight, but just one reason. My performance was bad [in the] first fight and I will show you why I am the champion, clearly, decisively, and I think Glover deserves it. So here’s the offer. I will show you why I am the champion.”
Teixeira, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has the record of being the oldest first time UFC champion in history. In a career spanning 2 decades, Teixeira has wins over the likes of Jan Blachowicz, Anthony Smith, Rashad Evans, Thiago Santos, Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba, Misha Cirkunov, Ovince St-Preux, Ryan Bader, Quinton Jackson, Fabio Maldonado and many more. Prochazka won his last fight against Teixeira by shocking the world with last minute submission over someone who’s known as one of the best grapplers in UFC’s light heavyweight history.
