Jiri Prochazka returns to the octagon next month for UFC 300. He faces the #5 ranked Aleksandar Rakic in a three-round light heavyweight battle. Ahead of the bout, the Czech martial artist released training footage on his social media. This garnered the attention of the MMA community.
In the video, Jiri Prochazka sharpened his striking skills in a gym. It was unusual to see the light heavyweight train at a gym since he often trained in a forest setting. Known for his Samurai antics, Prochazka kept the training in a flowy state. As such, he punched and kicked a heavy bag maintaining focus on sharpening his techniques instead of going hard.
On Instagram, the former champion posted a few more images taken at a lake exposing his upgraded physique. He looked massive and energized. Also, in the captions he wrote “Lets go to the Final part of preparation. WIN – NOW – HERE“. With just under a month to go for UFC 300, Jiri Prochazka announced entering into his final part of preparations. Previously, Prochazka had to vacate his light heavyweight title in 2022 because of a shoulder injury. He was offered a fight against Pereira for the vacant title on his return in 2023.
Coming off a knockout loss to Alex Pereira, Prochazka looked determined to return to the winning column. According to the Czech fighter, he had the upper hand in that fight until he got knocked out. This belief in himself might result in a rematch with ‘Poatan’ if he keeps winning. Now, he fights Aleksandar Rakic in the prelims of UFC 300.
Fans react to Jiri Prochazka’s new training footage
Jiri Prochazka is one of a kind in the realm of modern-age fighting. The Czech martial artist followed the principles of a Samurai and trained in the wilderness. As such, he often trains by himself and inculcates an unorthodox method of training. However, now and then, he enters the gym to hone his skills to perfection.
With dynamite in his hands and over 25 knockouts to his name, Prochazka has a strong striking base. As such, in the training video, he furthered his perfection of the striking art. He practiced striking at a low pace against a heavy bag. This video received numerous reactions from the fight fans.
Fight fans had mixed responses to Prochazka’s training video. A few doubted his chances against Rakic while a few wished him luck and wanted him to win. Also, many pointed out the holes in Prochazka’s striking defense and criticized his unconventional training method.
