“Will fight for BFMF” – Joanna Jedrzejczyk is down to come out of retirement for a female BMF belt

Joanna Jedrzejczyk wants to fight for female BMF title

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is happily retired from professional fighting. However, there is one belt that the fighter wants to fight for. If the UFC ever proposes the concept, Joanna might be down to return from retirement.

Joanna Jedrejczyk recently called for retirement after her devastating loss to Zhang Weili at UFC 275. The two female strawweights tried to recreate the greatest female fighter in the history of the promotion after two years, but the fight sure was very one-sided towards the Chinese strawweight. After spending 8 years in the UFC, Joanna decided to hang her gloves and call it quits.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk might not come back from retirement but the fighter might consider fighting for a female BMF belt. The concept of the BMF belt came about when Nate Diaz fought Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 back in 2019. Masvidal won the fight and was the inaugural BMF champion. Joanna wouldn’t mind if the promotion came about another BMF belt for the female fighters. JJ believes she definitely would be down to fight as a contender for that belt.

“Maybe I could come back for the female BMF title,” Joanna said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “Look, I am retired. I am retired, but in the future, maybe I would fight for the BFMF.” “I don’t know, there’s not that many ‘BFMF’, real OG female fighters left,” said the veteran when asked who she would want to fight against for that belt.

Despite being retired from the sport, Joanna is determined to work with the UFC and continue entertaining her fans. The fighter wouldn’t mind working in the broadcast team of the promotion where several legendary fighters have worked post their retirement. “I’m looking forward to sitting down with Dana White to talk about my future, what I could possibly do for the UFC and the fans because there are no sports without fans,” said Joanna in the interview.
