“My leg fully works”- Joe Lauzon provides an update on the injury that forced him out of his fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC Austin
Joe Lauzon
UFC veterans, Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon were supposed to fight on the main card of UFC 274, both of them weighed in, shook hands, and went to sleep last month, ready to compete at UFC 274. Then Cerrone became unwell and had to withdraw from the competition.
It was momentarily up in the air whether the two would be rebooked, but here we are a little more than one month later. Fortunately, the quality match-up remains, and the stakes are still high for this pair of aging mixed martial arts (MMA) icons. These two were all set to face each other at UFC Austin: Kattar vs Emmett, and just like last time, they weighed in, shook hands, and just as Lauzon was getting dressed after the weigh-in, his knee popped out from the socket, and he was forced to pull out from the fight.
This fight was canceled at the last minute and there was nothing anything could’ve done to make things better. Many fans compared this fight to the Khabib vs Tony clash (which was canceled 5 times.) Joe apologized to his fans, and now he revealed the good news that he has completely recovered from his injury.
“We contacted the UFC”- Joe Lauzon said he tried his best to fight Donald Cerrone at UFC Austin
Talking about it from his Instagram account, he said, “So you can’t make this up, but my knee works again. Someone sent me a video maybe an hour ago on Instagram about like, ‘This sounds like something I deal with with my knee. You should check out this video.’ And it was 100 percent, everything was exactly the problem I was having.”
He added, “It was called a ‘tib-fib dislocation.’ So basically the bones in my leg were dislocated. That’s why we couldn’t get it back. So I did the exercise in the video and it popped back in. It’s insane. My leg fully works. I’m able to to hop, walk, jump. I literally could not put socks on, I couldn’t lift my foot off the bed, It was horrible.”
“I wish I had this video yesterday or this morning before our fight got called off. We contacted the UFC, we tried to make it, to see if Cowboy was still around we could still fight. But it was too late. I think he’s at the fights, but the UFC said we couldn’t do it, so it sucks. Sorry to everyone again, this whole entire situation super sucks. I don’t now what’s going to happen. We’ll see,” Joe concluded.
