“Don’t put him with Usman”- Joe Rogan claims a comeback fight against Kamaru Usman would be too much for Conor McGregor to handle
Conor McGregor and Joe Rogan
Conor McGregor has been on the sidelines ever since he sustained a leg injury in his last fight against Dustin Poirier. He broke his leg and underwent immediate surgery. His recovery is going really well, and many people thought he’d come back to avenge his loss against Poirier.
He even had a little scuffle with Poirier in the past, but Conor surprised everyone and gained a massive amount of weight to prepare for his welterweight return. He said he wants to become the first triple champ in the history of the company, and he’d come back to face the welterweight king, Kamaru Usman.
Conor likes his chances against Usman, and he said he doesn’t see any danger in Usman’s game. Usman found this whole facade funny, and even though he has nobody in the division who wants him to take this fight, he’d be more than happy to fight McGregor for some big bucks. Even Dana said he’d make this fight if both the parties involved agreed upon it.
Joe Rogan believes boxers are smarter when it comes to making a comeback
Joe Rogan is a big fan of both these fighters, but considering Conor’s recent performances, he thinks Usman would be too much for him. On Mike Tyson’s Hot Boxin’ Podcast, he dropped some advice for Conor, he said, “If Conor wants the most chance of success, I would say fight a guy who is a little below championship-level. Maybe like a guy on the come-up, who Conor has an advantage over, but is still a competitive fight. Give him a test. But don’t put him in there right away with Usman.”
“I think, honestly, when boxers come back from a long layoff and they come back from a loss, one thing that boxers do that’s smart is they have a tune-up fight. I think there’s a reason why they’ve been using tune-up fights forever like astute managers. They know you got to knock the dust off and you’ll be better in the next performance,” Joe concluded.
