‘Gigantic percentage are suicides’- Joe Rogan discusses the overblown figures of gun violence in the United States

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan Is an extremely opinionated individual, especially when it comes to current events. He recently made headlines once again with his stance on gun control following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Regardless of how individuals feel about gun laws, it is evident that they must be changed in order to prevent any violence caused by flaws in the system for supplying citizens with firearms.

The debate over gun regulation has resurfaced after a mass shooting at a Texas elementary school killed 19 children and two adults, adding to the country’s lengthy list of mass murders. The gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where children aged seven to ten are educated, before being shot and killed by police, according to officials.

According to detectives, the 18-year-old suspect possessed a handgun, an AR-15 semi-automatic weapon, and high-capacity magazines. Before going on the rampage, the child is suspected of shooting his grandmother. He may have been a high school student in the neighborhood, according to local media.

Joe welcomed lawyer and gun rights activist Colion Noir to debate gun ownership and gun violence in the United States in the most recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. During the conversation, Noir mentioned that the inner cities account for a major part of gun violence in the United States. Rogan added that suicides, not homicides or mass shootings, account for the great majority of gun deaths in the United States.

He stated, “The numbers are crazy. When people talk about gun violence in this country… when you look at gun deaths, a gigantic percentage of them are suicides, right?” To which, Noir responded by claiming that suicides account for up to 65 percent of gun deaths in the United States. He stated, “My main concern is people harming other people. So when we look at the numbers of gun violence, it’s always exaggerated because they don’t include the fact that [suicides account for a large portion]…”

Colion went on to say that, given the number of civilian gun owners in the United States, the country should be the world leader in suicides, but it isn’t. Noir used this to argue that the problem with suicides, which he claims account for approximately 65 percent of all gun deaths, is simply mental health-related rather than gun-related, a viewpoint shared by Joe Rogan.
