Joe Rogan(L), Spotify(R)
One of the most well-known podcasts on the internet is the Joe Rogan one. The audience is diverse in size and shape, and the majority of the lectures last for roughly three hours. The Joe Rogan Experience exposes its audience to a variety of various ideas and ways of thinking through interviews with celebrities, performers, scientists, sports, and people who simply have fascinating tales or interesting minds.
The Joe Rogan Experience has over 1,700 episodes and an average of 11 million listeners, making it one of the most well-known podcasts in the world. Spotify paid over $100 million on exclusive rights in 2020, demonstrating the company’s might. According to two unnamed sources who spoke to the Times, the agreement grants Spotify exclusive rights to the podcast until 2023, and there is a chance that Rogan will make even more money than the initial $200 million.

“Weird shenanigans”- Joe Rogan states YouTube was attempting to censor him by demonetising content by their weird tactics
The fact that Rogan’s ascension goes beyond the usual partisan political squabbling that Americans have grown accustomed to in social and broadcast media makes it particularly significant. His ability to attract from that spectrum a sizable, youthful, primarily male audience that advertisers really crave is truly rare. Joe recently expressed that said that although YouTube was trying to suppress him, he decided to switch to Spotify because they had a stake in his success.
He stated, “It’s one of the reasons why I went to Spotify. It’s because they had a vested interest in me succeeding. Like, instead of worrying about me being pulled from their network. It’s not that I never really worried about that with YouTube. But it’s always possible, and there were some weird shenanigans they would do with demonetizing specific episodes just randomly.” Here is the episode this was extracted:
He also spoke about the effects of censorship it has on society and content creators, he stated, “It’s a way of censoring people without censoring people. Because you say, oh, were you guys talking about Covid? Oh yeah, you know, we can’t put ads on that… Oh, did you guys swear? did you swear? Oh yeah, we’re going to have to demonetize that. There was a lot of weird stuff like that”
