Joe Rogan was an avid fan of mixed martial arts and one could sense his passion for the sport with his commentating energy. Also, he often speaks about it in his Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. As such, in an episode with comedian Dan Soder, Rogan revealed the Judo skills of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He stated Vladimir Putin was a black belt in Judo. As such, he praised Putin for his skill set and even played a video of him practicing his Judo to prove his point. Further, he explained the technique to his guest and how great the Russian President was at Judo.
(Vladimir Putin) is a legit black belt (in Judo). He’s an older guy but by the way he moves and the things he does, everything is absolutely correct. I’m not a judo expert but I know how these throws work when I see Judo experts doing. [Reacting to the video] Look at the smoothness man, that’s legit! That’s legit. He’s a legit Judo black belt.

At first, the conversation about Vladimir Putin started when Joe Rogan‘s guest Dan Soder brought up an instance of Vladimir Putin playing ice hockey. Soder claimed Putin played among some elite players and scored more than six goals. It spoke about the enthusiasm of the Russian President for sports. He also supported many MMA fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov. In fact, he generously gifted ‘The Eagle’ a 20 million dollar property according to UFC CEO, Dana White.
Although the Russian President earned a black belt in Judo, his title was revoked by the International Judo Federation in 2022, reasoning the attacks Russia carried on against Ukraine. Also, he was a black belt in Taekwondo which was also revoked for the same reasons. Nonetheless, the skills of Vladimir Putin impressed Joe Rogan.
Joe Rogan on the accusations of Vladimir Putin is afraid of Joe Biden
Russian President, Vladimir Putin and American President, Joe Biden met in 2021 for a peaceful discussion about both the country’s policies. As such, when both the political giants met, they shared a smile and a firm handshake. The videos and photos of their summit went viral on social media. As such, someone accused the Russian President of being afraid of Biden, reasoning Putin broke eye contact with Biden. This received a stern response from Joe Rogan.
On his JRE Podcast, Rogan ridiculed the speculation of Putin being afraid of the American President. He brought up to notice that Putin was a Judo black belt and had armed training to prove the speculations were absurd. Here is what he said:
Some guy was talking about how Putin and Biden shook hands, and then how Putin looked away, and Biden’s looking him in the eyes. As if he’s trying to say in any way Putin is scared of Joe Biden, and that Joe Biden is like dominating Putin. You can’t possibly believe what you’re saying is true. Putin is a straight-up killer! Literally! And a Judo black belt.

Joe Rogan despite his criticisms about the Russian government had respect for Vladimir Putin. He often praised the Russian President regarding his combat skills and training. Putin was a Taekwondo and Judo practitioner who earned the highest degree ranking of a black belt. Also, he served as a foreign intelligence officer for more than a decade before entering into politics.
