Joe Rogan is disgusted as he repeats a false claim about students identifying as “Furries” urinating in litter boxes in American Schools
Rogan was discussing furries on the latest episode of the JRE
Joe Rogan’s podcast has made a tonal shift unlike any. Since his days at Spotify have begun, Rogan’s content has been steadily shifting its focus from MMA and other adrenaline junkie-like activities and is taking up shape as a full-time political podcast. The downside of this is purporting unproven claims.
Recently on his show, Rogan talked about a school in New York that was allegedly catering to the needs of its students who identify as “furries”. The way it catered to these needs is by allegedly providing students with litter boxes in toilets. Furries are people who feel more comfortable with their bodies in animal-like costumes in public with many even behaving like one themselves.
“There’s kids, ready for this?” said Rogan as he braced his guest for the news he was about to read. He continued, “My friend, his wife is a school teacher and she works at a school that had to install a litter box, in the girl’s room, because there is a girl who’s a furry, who identifies as an animal”, saying the parent of the students pestered the school to accommodate her child’s needs.
“So this girl goes on to the girls room, and urinates or whatever [In the litter box]”, said Rogan as he called the act “Disgusting”. Rogan then went on to say, “If you could teach your cat to use a toilet, you would” saying having to clean a litter box is the worst part of owning cats and that humans should be above that sort of behavior.
Is Joe Rogan accurate in his statement about furries in American Schools?
While Rogan’s claims may sound provocative enough to sound true, a little research debunks this claim from the source. According to Associated Press, the claim was first made and repeatedly purported by Nebraska lawmaker, Bruce Bostelman.
Bostelman first made these claims during the passing of a bill meant to help students with behavioral problems. “They meow and they bark and they interact with their teachers in this fashion,” Bostelman said during legislative debate.

The false claim that originated from a Facebook group called, “Protect Nebraska Children” was categorically debunked by the district’s superintendent, who issued a statement that said there had “never been litter boxes within MPS schools”.
Bostelman himself backtracked and acknowledged the falsity of the story, justifying his purporting it by saying, “It was just something I felt that if this really was happening, we needed to address it and address it quickly,”
