“Really Crazy” Joe Rogan is shocked by Tik-Tok’s terms of service, and believes China uses the app in the fight against America
Rogan believes Tik Tok is threat to the US
Joe Rogan may have recently received a label of being a fear-mongering pothead by the mainstream media. While Joe has always been this way, it’s only now after his 100 Million Spotify deal that everyone has started taking him seriously and not simply as just another podcaster.
On the episode of JRE starring Theo Von, Joe talked about the danger that Tik Tok poses to freedoms around the world. While this could also be lumped into the many fear-mongering videos by Joe, Tik Tok’s track record speaks for itself.
It is no secret that Chinese multinational companies are under the severe grip of the communist party. If one needs to succeed in China, the government needs to be an equal share partner with access to everything from your most basic ideas to the inner workings of your company. Hence it is no surprise that Bytedance, tik tok’s parent company comes under similar scrutiny.
Joe Rogan believes China is using tik-tok against American interests
It is this aspect of Tik Tok that worries many in the security sphere considering how big of a data mining operation the app can be in theory. Joe talked about his fears being amplified as he went down the rabbit of user agreements for tik tok.
“Listen to this, this is from TikTok’s privacy policy, It said, ‘We collect certain information about the device you use to access the platform, such as your IP address, user region.’ This is really crazy.” said Rogan as he tried to explain a confused Theo Von as to why it was a bad thing.
“So all your apps and all your file names, all the things you have filed away on your phone, they have access to that, file names and types, keystroke patterns or rhythms. So they’re monitoring your keystrokes, which means they know every f**king thing you type,” said Rogan as he listed things that the app has access to which included Device ID’s , screen resolution and file names etc.
Joe then went on to claim that all of this ends only when China has all our data. Rogan has bigger fears of them using this data to monitor and control people outside their borders. A similar system of dystopian surveillance is already in place in China.
A wider package of the social credit system, this surveillance can track anyone among the huge 1.3 billion population in amtyer of mere minutes. Act in ways that are against the State and the government has the total right and more dangerously complete control to block your purchase be it plane tickets or even simple groceries.
Achinese fighter named Xu Xiaodong suffered a similar fate when his credit score was lowered to a ‘D’ meaning he couldn’t purchase plane tickets or real estate. This was done in a retaliatory nature as he had been going around the country and disproving fake martial arts teachers.
