Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan is a prominent figure in the MMA community, and is a very opinionated personality, particularly when it comes to current affairs. Following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, he made news once more with his views on gun regulation. Regardless of how people feel about gun regulations, it is clear that they need to be modified to prevent violence caused by defects in the system for supplying citizens with firearms.

After a mass shooting at a Texas elementary school murdered 19 children and two adults, the argument over gun restriction has revived, adding to the country’s long series of horrific killings. According to officials, the gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, which educates children aged seven to ten, before being shot and killed by police.

In the most recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe joined lawyer and gun rights activist Colion Noir to discuss gun ownership and gun violence in the United States. During the conversation, Noir remarked that gun violence in the United States is disproportionately concentrated in the inner cities. Suicides, not homicides or mass shootings, account for the vast majority of gun deaths in the United States, according to Rogan.

They also discussed although Joe is pro-second amendment he still believes that the procedure to get a gun license is not as stringent as it ideally should be, he asked about the same to Colion to which he stated, “Because of Efficacy”. Joe later compares it to the fact that acquiring a driver’s license is more monitored than getting a gun license. Colin gave a rationale that one is a privilege and the other is a fundamental right.

The discussion is valid as reform in acquiring guns is more stringent. Any comprehensive gun violence prevention policy must start with background checks. When a person tries to acquire a gun from a licensed gun dealer, federal law requires that a background check be performed. This is to ensure that the buyer is not forbidden from possessing the firearm by law.
