Nobody envisioned Conor McGregor’s Hollywood debut opposite Jake Gyllenhaal after his brutal leg injury in 2021. The Road House film presented McGregor in the most ‘McGregor fashion.’ Catchy trash talks and action sequences of the Irishman have caught the attention of the MMA community. UFC commentator Joe Rogan also spoke about McGregor’s potential in films on his podcast.

Rogan sat down with retired UFC fighter Matt Serra and talked about McGregor’s work in Road House. Serra was highly impressed, and both talked about McGregor’s potential to become a Hollywood star. Joe Rogan gave the example of Dwayne Johnson and stated Conor McGregor has the potential to become a movie star. 

Conor McGregor can be a movie star easy. If ‘The Rock’ can do it, you don't think Conor McGregor can do it. One hundred percent, he could do it and he's a character man.

Road House has done incredibly well since its series premiere. In just two weeks, it has received over 50 million views, giving it the greatest release for Amazon Prime ever. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson acts in the action movie genre and has created many exciting films. As such, Rogan felt McGregor could pull something off similarly due to his electrifying personality.

The UFC icon received widespread praise from fans for his performance. Some even noted that the remake failed to live up to the original, but cited McGregor as the most positive aspect of the film. It has definitely opened doors for the Irishman to try more opportunities in Hollywood. However, the fighter has some different plans.

Conor McGregor prioritizes octagon comeback, puts movie career on hold

One of the main factors contributing to Road House‘s enormous success was undoubtedly Conor McGregor. McGregor may receive further offers following his role in the movie, but for the time being, he doesn’t want them.

During a recent interview with talkSport, the fighter mentioned that he was not planning any other movies for now. McGregor is focused on his UFC comeback and wants to be in top condition for his comeback fight this year.

I have had no conversations with no one. I know there’s probably talks going on but I’m not privy to it and I don’t want to hear it. For me, it’s no, there’s no more movies from me.

Ever since his recovery, “Mystic Mac” has hinted at various possible bouts. Nate Diaz, Dustin Poirier, and Michael Chandler remain possible options for the Irishman upon his return. For now, McGregor has started to consistently work out in preparation for his comeback. Fight fans hope for an official announcement sooner rather than later.
