“People lost faith in law enforcement” Joe Rogan reacts to DA refusing to pursue felony charges on Dave Chappelle’s attacker
Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle have been close friends and colleagues for almost 2 decades
Joe Rogan has been close friends with Dave Chappelle since the early days of their careers. Joe has even made appearances on the Chappelle Show notably in the skit “Tyrone Biggums Fear Factor” The duo have since then shared a close friendship with Joe having particular reverence for Chappelle’s brand of insightful comedy. It was hence no surprise that Joe was upset when Dave Chappelle was charged at by a spectator during his live performance at the “Netflix is a Joke” event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The attacker was promptly and badly beaten up by Chappelle’s security with Chappelle joking, “It was a trans man” alluding to the negative response his last special, The Closer, received from the LGBTQ Community. Fellow Comedian Chris Rock, also jumped on the mic to ask, “Was that Will Smith?” referring to the infamous Oscars moment when the star actor got up on stage and slapped Chris Rock for cracking a joke on his wife, Jada Smith. Many on social media blame this trend of attacking performers on Will Smith and claim his actions are the root cause of the current epidemic
Joe Rogan is extremely disappointed in Dave Chappelle’s attacker not receiving a Felony Charge
The attacker was however not charged with a felony for his act, with the department saying, “While criminal conduct occurred the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct.” Joe took to Instagram to vent out his frustrations posting a screenshot of the judgment published by the Hollywood Reporter.
The caption to the post read, “When you see that a person commits a clear crime, and does it to one of the most loved performers alive, and does it in a very high profile public setting, and it gets captured on video, and you don’t charge that person for what they obviously did, it’s the kind of thing that makes people lose faith in law enforcement. That’s never good.” Rogan was also the first to stand up for Chappelle after the barrage of criticism he endured following the release of his final Netflix special, “The Closer”
There were many high-standing celebs in the audience for the event as well. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, and the world’s richest rapper P. Diddy were seen at the front row of the event.
