Recently on the “Protect the Parks #5” episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Joe had his comedian friends, Ari Sahffir, Mark Normand, and Shane Gillis talk about sumo wrestling. The four went down the YouTube rabbit hole and started dissecting different sumo wrestlers and also tried to look at clips about the best sumo wrestler of all time. Any time combat sports is bought up on the show, Joe immediately shows more excitement than ever and is very into the conversation.

Once the topic of sumo wrestling came up, the comedian friends all got into the conversation, and videos of vintage wrestling matches were played as they all commented on it. Joe proposes an idea of an elite wrestler who is 200-300 pounds taking on a sumo wrestler to see the level of skills in both sports.

“Big giant, big bones. Big f**king frame. You gotta be a big f**k to eat so much do you ever watch those sumo wrestlers eat? It’s crazy. Oh my god, because that’s the whole thing. Gotta have mass. In Japan, it’s a gigantic tradition. I mean, just the rich history of it is a big deal over there,” said Joe Rogan on the podcast. The four comedians were then interested to see the best sumo wrestler of all time and Joe asked his editor, Jamie, to pull up a video of the “Jon Jones of sumo wrestling“.
