“He’s a sweet guy” Joe Rogan recalls his observations from a call with Johnny Depp before the start of his troubles

Comedian and Podcaster Joe Rogan claims Johnny Depp to be a really nice guy based of the few interactions he's had with him
Just like all of us mere mortals, UFC Commentator, and the number 1 podcaster in the world Joe Rogan is deeply invested in the ongoing defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. In fact, Joe couldn’t wait to get more details and hence invited a guest who could give him the best insight, Doug Stanhope.

Doug Stanhope is a mutual friend of Johnny Depp and Joe Rogan. It was Stanhope who gave Joe Rogan his first and only opportunity to interact with the megastar of “The Pirates” franchise. Doug Stanhope is known for his nihilistic sense of humor and disregard for most social cues. Something Johnny seems to appreciate as his friend and idol, The Father of Gonzo Journalism, Hunter S Thompson shares these same attributes.
In Episode #1811 of the JRE, Stanhope and Rogan talk about the time when Doug stood up for his friend, Johnny right after the article by Amber Heard, accusing Depp of domestic violence was published. This was a dark period for the superstar as the industry and everyone within it was weary of supporting or being associated with him. This is when Doug published an article of his own detailing how Amber Heard would blackmail Depp when their relationship progressed in front of Stanhope himself.
Joe Rogan was on a beach in Hawaii while on a call with Johnny Depp

“I was drinking margaritas on the beach,” said Joe of the time Doug connected him and Johnny via a phone call. “They might subpoena my texts” joked Stanhope revealing they were on Depp’s private island during the phone call. Joe also revealed how he jokingly bragged to his wife about being on the phone with Depp. “He mumbled like Hunter S Thompson,” said Stanhope to which Joe replied that it was a great experience.
They then went on to talk about the ongoing trial to which Joe exclaimed that he’s seen “All the Trials” talking about the part where Depp’s team accused Amber of Defecating on Depp’s side of the bed. Stanhope and Joe joked about how the actress tried to pin the blame for the act on Depp’s dogs that approximately weigh 4 pounds. Joe described Depp as being “A very charming actor” but behind all the charisma Joe believes he’s “clearly a nice guy”
In an earlier episode starring Brendan Schaub, Joe also detailed on what he feels might have happened in the relationship saying, “He might have had some good moments with her and felt that once all this bulls**t is done for they can get back those good moments.” Seems like apart from being a master podcaster and combat expert, Joe might soon have a career as a love guru as well.
