Joe Rogan was on the broadcast team, commentating for the highly anticipated trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The fight took place at the soldout T-Mobile Arena in Vegas, with many notable figures in attendance. Here, Joe Rogan was unexpectedly visited by the former President of the U.S. Donald Trump. The UFC color commentator on his podcast talked about his meeting with Trump and revealed he wished he had got a selfie with the former President.
Donald Trump played a pivotal role in the formation of the UFC during the early days of the organization. Due to this history with UFC and his friendship with Dana White, Trump has been seen in attendance for quite a few fights. He was also present for the highly anticipated trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
In his conversation with journalist Jesse Singal, Rogan opened up about meeting Donald Trump and what transpired between them. “He walked up to me while I was still working, I had my headphones on. I shook his hand and said ‘ Hey how you doing man, nice to meet you ‘ and got a video of it . He said ‘You do tremendous job, amazing job, good job,” said the podcast host imitating Trump. Donald Trump also lauded Daniel Cormier, who was calling the events with Jon Anik and Joe Rogan.
While the whole meet-up was great, according to Joe Rogan, he felt that he missed the opportunity to get a selfie with the billionaire. He also explained to Singal how the Vegas crowd “cheered the f**k out of Donald Trump” at UFC 264.
Why Joe Rogan won’t have Donald Trump on his podcast
UFC color commentator Joe Rogan hosts one of the most famous and influential podcasts in the world. Over the years, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience ‘ has featured all sorts of people on his show. However, Rogan also has a few questionable figures he avoids inviting on his show. Former U.S. President Donald Trump happens to be one of them.
In an episode of Lex Fridman’s podcast, Joe Rogan talked about why he rejected Donald Trump from being featured on his show multiple times.” I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form. I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once. I’ve said no every time. I don’t want to help him, I’m not interested in helping him,” said Rogan.
“So many people felt like they could abandon their own ethics and morals and principles just to attack him and anybody who supports him,” added the podcast host. Rogan also clarified why having Trump on the show is dangerous even though he’s hosted polarizing figures like Kanye West on his show. “Kanye’s an artist and Kanye doing well or not doing well doesn’t change the course of our country.”
Rogan has some understandable reasons for not bringing the infamous former President on his podcast.
