“Only works if you feel bad,” Joe Rogan shares a unique interpretation on fat-shaming

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan can be called out for his thoughts and conscience in the form of his unpopular opinion that makes viral news on the internet. But at the age of 54, you cannot call him out on the physical aspect of life. Probably Rogan is more consistent with his workouts than most people in their 20s today. But even if you question his body, he won’t mind, at least his resilience doesn’t allow it that way. Rogan is a UFC colour commentator, comedian and host of the world’s leading podcast titled the Joe Rogan Experience.

Rogan has been working in the stand-up comedy industry since the late 1980s and has been working with the UFC since their 12th PPV event back in 1997. Rogan’s podcast, also known as JRE, was launched in 2009 and became one of the top 100 podcasts to listen to in August 2009. In September of 2020, Rogan signed a $100 million deal with Spotify to air his entire podcast episodes exclusively on the Swedish audio platform, along with the video.

In an interview with Gina Carano, the first-ever face of women’s MMA, Rogan talks about what are his thoughts on fat-shaming. The phenomenon of fat-shaming is basically described as when a person insults the other person for being fat, therefore putting a mental setback on the receiver of those insults because of his/her body. For the bio of the guest, Carano is a retired MMA fighter with a record of 7-1 and is currently an actress.

“It’s a weird time today where you’re not supposed to do that anymore. They want you to preserve people’s feelings now. Fat-shaming only works if you feel bad… You can’t fat shame me. I’d be like, ‘Oh, I’m fat? Ok,'” said and concluded Rogan. [h/t SportsKeeda]

What do you make of Joe Rogan’s take on fat-shaming, do you agree that it’s a cent per cent other person’s responsibility to react accordingly without getting their feelings hurt or should the speaker be more mindful of fat-shaming? Where do you put Carano and Rogan amongst the all-time great personalities in MMA?
