Joe Rogan scares comedian Louis C.K. by explaining UFC fighter Belal Muhammad’s horrific injury. Rogan has been around in the UFC for years and is well aware of the severe injuries that UFC fighters get during fights.
In one of his podcasts with Louis C.K., Rogan talked about UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad and his eye condition. Rogan explained that the fighter has a damaged retina and lens in his eyes from years of fighting.
He said, “I had a guy in the other day, Belal Muhammad. He’s a UFC fighter who’s had a detached retina, and a detached lens on his other eye. On both eyes…You’re talking to people like that, the game they’re playing is punching people in the face and a lot of times it’s going in the eyes because UFC gloves have open fingers. So guys accidentally get poked in the eye. F***ing terrifying.”
Joe Rogan revealed that in MMA, the gloves are open, and due to this, fighters often get hit by fingers in their eyes, which affects them, like in the case of Muhammad. Louis immediately jokingly mentioned that he would never take part in MMA fights because of this particular reason.
Belal Muhammad talks about his infamous fight with Leon Edwards which resulted in a no contest
In 2021, Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards fought each other at UFC Vegas 21, and during the bout, the referee asked the referee what to do to stop the fight before it was finished. During an exchange, the Brit accidentally poked Muhammad’s eye, and the fighter was helpless. After the fight, Muhammad did an interview with ESPN MMA and mentioned:
“I don’t care about a broken hand or a broken foot or something like that. But losing vision is the scariest of all those things, as it happened to me. Just because I have experienced something like that where eye pokes have gone bad and I am like, you think about those things at that moment and I literally thought I was blind.”
Muhammad was terrified when Leon Edwards poked his eyes, as he was temporarily blind and couldn’t see anything. Even if the fighter made a recovery and got back his vision, it seems like his eyes have suffered some permanent damage.
