Conor McGregor has been out of octagon for over a year now after breaking his tibia against Dustin Poirier. Since the the ‘Notorious’ have been spending time with family and recovering. The recovering process took a lot less time than expected and the fighter was seen training with his coaches in his recent social media posts.

Other than having a smooth recovery, McGregor also decided to bulk up and gain much more mass than he had earlier. Currently the fighter weighs around 190 lbs and doesn’t look like going back to the lightweight division. However, nothing is sure with McGregor as he can do and fight whoever.

John Kavanagh was recently at the Blockasset podcast where he discussed his latest grappling session with McGregor at the SBG gym in Ireland.

Kavanagh revealed that McGregor came to the gym out if nowhere and and asked Kavanagh spar with him. He explained that grappling with the current McGregor was like training with a 2,000lb gorilla and it was extremely hard. Kavanagh mentioned that after he came back home his wife as surprised by how he looked but understood everything after knowing about McGregor.

“I don’t know if you can see the few nicks and marks I got. He just kind of showed up by surprise. And of course, he grabbed me by the neck. I was subjected to a couple of rounds by this 2,000lb gorilla. And I came home, and I walked in the door, and Orlagh [Kavanagh’s wife] went, ‘What the f*** happened to you? What’s wrong with your head?’And I said, ‘Oh, Conor showed up.’ And she just sort of rolled her shoulders and went, ‘Yeah, that makes sense.’”

McGregor is mostly known for his incredible striking and accuracy. It’s true that the fighter has not been in his best form lately but it still one cannot deny the power he has on his left hand. Along with his striking, if McGregor is trying to upgrade his ground game which would be great addition to his whole game.
