Jon Jones accuses Ariel Helwani of starting feuds via back and forth on X. Helwani's style of journalism has not sat well with Jones in the past.
Jones accuses Helwani of misconduct!
The UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has made his opinion clear as to what he thought of famed journalist Ariel Helwani. Jon Jones had more than a few harsh words about Helwani and his controversial antics. The baddest man on the planet also shared why he has refrained from appearing on Helwani’s show. The feud spurred from Helwani’s comments on the failed super-fight between Francis Ngannou and Jones.
As soon as Francis Ngannou performed well against Tyson Fury, fight fans started discussing the matchup between Jones and Ngannou. Ariel Helwani also chimed in on the topic. Jon Jones did not like the tone and intention of Helwani talking about the topic. He went on social media to trash the famed journalist. Here’s what Bones wrote on Instagram:
You're such a backstabbing shit talker Bro.... and you wonder why I haven't given you an interview in years.Jon Jones via Instagram
The MMA journalist has always had a reputation for getting under the skin of fighters. Quentin “Rampage” Jackson and Nick Diaz openly expressed their disgust toward Helwani’s style of questioning. Jon Jones also has not given Ariel Helwani an interview in a long time. After the Ngannou vs. Fury bout, Ariel Helwani went on X to praise Ngannou. Helwani had an anti-UFC stance in his tweets praising Ngannou. Hence, Jones did not like whatever Helwani was about to do and called him out on social media.
Will Francis Ngannou ever return to the UFC? Will he ever face Jon Jones? All interesting prospects, but MMA fans must stop rejoicing in the thought of fantasy matchups and embrace what’s in store at UFC 295, the Mecca of Combat sports – Madison Square Garden.
Jon Jones has entered rehab status after successful surgery
The greatest light-heavyweight of all time, Jon “Bones” Jones, updated fans in a video after his successful surgery. The UFC legend had previously shared similar videos moments before entering surgery. The surgery was required to repair his pectoral muscle, which he had torn in preparation for UFC 295.
Jones must now direct all his efforts toward a speedy road to recovery. The future Hall of Famer put forth a flawless performance against the next-best heavyweight, Ciryl Gane, at UFC 285. The win sparked rumors about a super-fight against Francis Ngannou. However, Ngannou signed with the PFL and chose to enter the boxing ring in 2023.
Jones will aim to return in 2024 and defend the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. The champion needs at least six months of recovery. Hence, he would only fight after April or May of 2024.
