Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou could have faced each other if the timings aligned for them. They have stirred up a rivalry since Ngannou made a name for himself in the heavyweight division. Fans have eagerly waited for a potential fight between the two fighters since Jones announced his intention to move to the heavyweight division.
In a recent PFL event, the two fighters were present near the cage side. Jones and Ngannou decided to walk up to each other and exchange a few words. Fight fans got a glimpse of a potential trash-talk if the two heavyweights ever clashed. Both fighters talked about their respect for each other and indicated their desire to compete against each other.
Jon Jones began the trash talk with supreme confidence. He said, “You don’t want no smoke.” He further stated that he is the one true king and will always remain that way. Ngannou disagreed with the statement and insisted on kicking his a** after waiting for three long years. Jon Jones took a break after his victory at UFC 247.
Considering Ngannou’s recent bad relations with the UFC, whether such a fight could happen is doubtful. However, as it works in the fighting world, it only happens if Ngannou returns to the UFC. Dana White could be an obstacle to the fight ever happening as he does not want Ngannou back in the UFC.
Francis Ngannou’s future in the MMA World
Francis Ngannou was forced to take a long break from fighting due to knee surgery. During this period, Ngannou and the UFC failed to agree to terms on a new contract that ultimately saw Ngannou leave the company.
Ngannou emphasized the low fighter pay in the UFC along with medical insurance as the probable cause for him to leave. On the other hand, the UFC stated that they were willing to make Ngannou the highest-paid heavyweight in the company’s history. Ngannou also wanted to compete in boxing matches as well.
As per the California State Athletic Commission, Ngannou made a total of 600,000 USD with the UFC fight against Ciryl Gane. “The Predator” joined the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and can earn seven figures when he competes in the organization. The PFL has gone out of its way in search of big-name fighters to be added to their roster. They found Ngannou and he will be the face of the company moving forward.
