“Nothing Else To Say” Jon Jones posts a stunning statistic that dismisses Khabib Nurmagomedov’s status as a GOAT

Jones got into another debate over each others legacy

Jon Jones hit out again with his annual dismissal of Khabib Nurmagomedov, this time allegedly with an image “texted by a friend.” Jon has been out of action since early 2020 while Nurmagomedov had his last UFC Fight in that period, ultimately moving on to promoting and training responsibilities.

Currently, Jon is training for his anticipated move up the heavyweight division. Progress, however, like anything to do with Jon Jones apart from purely fighting in the octagon, is slow. In the meantime, Jon has found himself in other controversies too.

Most notably the fighter was detained in Las Vegas on domestic assault charges, barely 4 hours after having one of his fights inducted into the Hall of Fame. This incident led his long-time gym, Jacksonwink MMA to completely cut ties with him. Jon also found himself in trouble with a DUI and a case of shooting stray bullets in a parking lot around this time period.

Despite his many troubles, few people will ever debate the in-cage legacy of Jon Jones. Sadly one of his biggest critics for simply no reason is himself. For some reason, Jon has felt threatened by the legacy that Khabib left behind in a lower weight class and today he shared a statistic to highlight the difference in accomplishments.

The image in question highlights the statistic that while Khabib has been in 13 UFC fights with 4 of them being for the title, Jon has been in 14 UFC title fights alone. The undeniable legacy of Jones remains what he did at that young age to such established veterans.

Everything from his dismantling of Shogun Rua, who was a similarly young phenom in Pride to his absolute first-degree murder-like finish over Lyoto Machida is undeniably stuff of legend. In fact, Nurmagomedov also agrees with that view.

Khabib has in fact called Jones the greatest fighter of all time, despite his teammate, Daniel Cormier being one of his fiercest rivals. To play devil’s advocate, however, Jon was given the title shot in the early part of his UFC career, while Khabib has had historically one of the toughest rises up to receive a title shot.

So had a young Khabib received a title shot when he deserved it, who knows how things would’ve gone down? What are your thoughts on this alternate reality where Khabib receives a title shot shortly after beating RDA? Let us know.
