UFC Heavyweight Jon Jones is set to face former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic, at UFC 295, on Nov. 11. Miocic is one of the greatest heavyweights in the promotion. Accordingly, Jones is undergoing subsequent training for the matchup with Gordon Ryan. As such, Jones has tweeted details about the rigor and delights that come with it.
“Training with a 28-year-old phenom to fight a 41-year-old goat. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be,” said Jones in his tweet. “The trenches is where I belong”. Ryan, the said phenom, is an expert within the jiu-jitsu‘s no-Gi and submission-only circuit, and a skilled grappler.
Jones is a longtime heavyweight veteran, and a light heavyweight fighter. Currently, he is the heavyweight champion, after bulking up for three whole years to stop Ciryl Gane, via first-round submission at UFC 285 in March. ESPN has Jones ranked No. 3 pound-for-pound in the world. He has only incurred one loss in his career, which was due to a disqualification. Meanwhile, Miocic himself has four successful heavyweight title defenses, over two reigns accordingly. Miocic (20-4) has not fought any big bouts since losing the belt to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260.
UFC CEO Dana White had announced the matchup at the UFC 290 ceremonial weigh-ins. UFC 295 is taking place at New York’s Madison Square Garden, in November. Unsurprisingly, the heavyweight bout is one of the most highly anticipated fights.

And now, with the dream match finally happening, the reactions generated have caused quite of buzz.
Fans and people within the promotion have been looking forward to this matchup since before UFC 285. Subsequently, Jones had been calling out Miocic since 2022. In March, Jones took to social media to bait Miocic, instigating rumors of the latter backing off from their tentatively planned bout at UFC 290. Miocic responded to these claims, saying he would see him in July. Even Dana White had stepped in to defend Miocic amidst the squabble. Moreover, he was hopeful about this match-up.
With the exit of Francis Ngannou, fans were perturbed about the heavyweight division. Consequently, many also think that Miocic is undeserving of the bout, with a KO loss and a huge layoff under his belt. Many fans also believe that first-round KO master Sergei Pavlovich was better suited for Jones.
