Jon Jones is the reigning UFC heavyweight champion. His dominance in the octagon has always shone a spotlight on him. He found himself again in the spotlight again, but for a concerning reason. Jones allegedly threatened to kill a DFSI official sent to collect a drug testing sample from him.
According to sources, the incident occurred at the end of March. The DFSI tester reported that Jon Jones appeared “extremely intoxicated” during the encounter. The details of the incident are certainly alarming. Jones not only threatened the official’s life but even went so far as to snag the tester’s cell phone. The reason for such actions remains unknown at the moment.
One can only imagine the official’s sheer terror at that moment. He faced the wrath of arguably one of the best fighters ever. It’s a sobering reminder that even the greatest athletes are not immune to the pitfalls of fame and fortune. Now, with the UFC’s new partnership with Drug-Free Sport International, it appears Jones’ antics have caught up with him again.
One can’t help but wonder what this latest incident means for Jones’ future in the sport. He is set to potentially face Stipe Miocic in his first title defense. But will this move halt the UFC star’s career? Will the UFC finally decide to part ways with their troubled star, or will they give him another chance to clean up his act? Only time will tell.
Jon Jones once confessed to hiding under the octagon to avoid drug testing
MMA superstar Jon Jones admitted to a long-standing rumor about his alleged attempt to evade a drug test. ‘Bones’ sheepishly confessed that he once hid under the cage at his gym to avoid being tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
The admission came during a heated Twitter/X exchange with Israel Adesanya. Jones decided to come clean about the incident which occurred before his first fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 182.

One can almost imagine the scene – the mighty Jon Jones, cowering beneath the octagon like a scolded child, desperately trying to avoid the inspection of the drug testers. It’s a mental image that is equal parts comical and concerning.
This is not the first time Jones has found himself embroiled in a controversy surrounding performance-enhancing drugs. Back in 2015, it was announced that he had tested positive for a metabolite of cocaine. This came just a month before his fight with Cormier. However, his latest incident with a drug tester from DFSI might have surpassed all the above incidents.
