“Michael Chandler’s a quitter,” Jorge Masvidal believes Chandler doesn’t have the attributes to become the BMF champion

After failing to defeat Dustin Poirier at UFC 281, Michael Chandler is looking for a new challenge. Recently Michael Chandler has called out Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt. However, it seems Jorge Masvidal has no interest in putting his belt on the line against Michael Chandler.

Recently speaking on The MMA Hour, Jorge Masvidal revealed that he doesn’t believe that Michael Chandler got the attributes to challenge for the BMF belt. He said, “Michael Chandler’s a quitter, man…That’s the first thing to being a BMF. I saw him fight my boy Will Brooks, and Will Brooks hit that mother***** so hard he just quit in the middle of the [fight]. He turned back, shook his head, and was like, ‘Nah, I’m done fighting.’

He also added that his belt with Chandler will not help him to gain any momentum going forward. Especially when Jorge Masvidal has set his eyes on the Welterweight champion Leon Edwards. Jorge Masvidal seems to be a top fighter who can create staggering pay-per-views despite losing 3 fights in a row.

Edwards has been seeking some form of retaliation against Jorge Masvidal for their infamous backstage altercation in London in March 2019. However, Masvidal thinks the current champion only wants to stay in the news and doesn’t want to compete against him.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Masvidal opened up on Edwards’s comments. Masvidal thinks Edwards can easily arrange a match against him, especially when Edwards is the champion and Jorge easily draws viewers. Jorge Masvidal spoke on the show, “If he told Dana White and the UFC he wanted to fight me, the UFC makes it happen like that. Why? Because I’m the one that sells the most pay-per-views in that entire division by like four, five times…If he wants the fight, the fight is there for him, but he doesn’t want the fight. But what he does want, it’s entertaining the idea that he wants the fight”

Masvidal isn’t scheduled to fight right now. He plans to make a comeback in 2023 and hopes to compete against Gilbert Burns,  who was just matched up against Neil Magny at UFC 283. Masvidal would be looking for a statement.
