While talking about Diaz’s retirement after beating Tony Ferguson, Masvidal mentioned that Diaz did a good thing retiring before getting seriously injured. Masvidal explained that Diaz has deteriorated a lot and should stay away from any form of top competition.

He said: “That’s good for him to leave the big leagues before he gets seriously brain damaged. I think the guy’s like borderline vegetable. His interviews’ spunkness, his wittyness and sharpness has got to s**t. You have to wait for him, the pause has gotten longer. You used to asked him a question, it’d be like a 2 second delay, it’s like a 30 second pause now. Good for him man, he shouldn’t be in the big leagues, he’s going to get hurt. Take that old a** dude somewhere else.” to MMA fighting.

Masvidal and Diaz fought each other in 2019 at UFC 244 where the ‘Gamebred’ won the fight and secured bragging rights over the Stockton native.

Jorge Masvidal is currently on a three-fight losing streak but still thinks he would get a title shot against the new champion, Leon Edwards. According to Masvidal, he is going to beat Edwards and then get his revenge against Kamaru Usman.

Hopefully I’m kicking Leon’s a** soon,” said Masvidal in the same interview with Mike Heck.  And then I get back in front of Usman, I get back in front of everybody. But, um, I don’t know what’s happening right now. Leon’s, you know, getting little cold feet. I don’t know what it is, he doesn’t want to lose in England again to me, so he’s kinda ignoring my phone calls.

The rivalry between Edwards and Masvidal goes way back to 2019 when the pair got into a backstage altercation at UFC Fight Night 147 in London. Since then, fans have been waiting for this fight however, looking at the current situation it’s not looking that good. Edwards will most probably defend his title against Usman next and that will determine the future of the welterweight division.
