Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is one of the most fearless and violent fighters in the UFC. After his retirement from MMA, Gamebred is looking for a new challenge. At UFC 287, Masvidal announced his retirement from MMA after losing against Gibert Burns in the post-match interview. In a recent interview, Jorge Masvidal hinted toward a comeback in combat sports, just not in MMA.
Masvidal spoke about his interest in competing in the WWE. He said, “If the shoe fits, wear it. I’m very busy, but if the compensation makes sense, then let’s do it. If the WWE wants a savage like me, then sign me up. I’ll go over to WWE and domesticate those guys. If I go there, I’ll put a hurting on them every night. I’ll torture them, make life f—— hell for all of them. No one over there can beat me.” (H/T Sports Illustrated)
Jorge has never backed down from challenges in his combat career, and that’s what made him stand out from others. His infamous flying knee against Ben Askren at UFC 239, still remains the fastest knockout in the UFC history. He also remains popular among the fans even after retirement.
The UFC capitalized on his popularity and made him appear in recent promotions for the BMF belt. The ex-BMF champion presented the belt to Justin Gaethje after his win at UFC 291. If Masvidal competes in professional wrestling, he can contribute immensely to the company. A huge number of potential fight fans could turn up to watch their favorite fighter make appearances on the show.
Ben Askren fires back at Jorge Masvidal over rematch talks
On his latest appearance on Funky & The Champ show with co-host Daniel Cormier, Ben Askren fired back at Jorge Masvidal over his boxing offer. Recently, Masvidal and Askren have been going back and forth on the internet about a potential rematch.
Masvidal went on the internet in July to offer Askren a rematch in boxing. He said, “Look, Ben, I’ll only give you the rematch in boxing, motherf*****. People will tune in because I can’t knee him in the face, right? Maybe Ben can ‘get his way now.” Replying to this fight offer, Askren shared his opinion on the fight. He spoke about the reason why Masvidal wants a boxing fight and not an MMA rematch.
He said,” There’s a lot of fears we can have in life, I’ll tell you what I’m scared of – I’m scared of snakes. I’m scared of sharks. I don’t want to go in deep water, I don’t want to mess with the sharks, that’s their house. Right? Jorge Masvidal, he’s not scared of physical altercation, he’s scared of being embarrassed and losing status, that’s what he’s scared of.” (H/T MMA Fighting). Since UFC 239, Masvidal and Askren share a bitter rivalry. With both fighters up for their form of rematches, fans will tune in to watch how this drama ends.
