“Wrestle day and night”- Jorge Masvidal is going to dedicate himself to wrestling to get back to the top

Jorge Masvidal

One of the most well-known fighters on this planet is the UFC’s welterweight contender, Jorge Masvidal. Gamebred has been fighting for a long time, he started his journey fighting in backyard brawls organized by the legendary Kimbo Slice. He then made his way into professional fighting, and finally landed in the UFC to compete against the best fighters in the world.

Masvidal’s journey was full of ups and downs, but everything changed when he secured three back-to-back TKO wins over Darren Till, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz. He then suffered two back-to-back losses against the champion, Kamaru Usman, and after taking some time out from the competition, he faced his former best friend turned rival Colby Covington at the main event of UFC 272.

Masvidal and Colby started their UFC journey together, and they used to live and train together for the most part. A series of unfortunate events turned them into rivals, and Colby took the trash talk a little too far away before the fight at UFC 272. Masvidal vowed to make him pay for his mistakes, but things didn’t turn out so well for him.

He got dominated by Covington on the ground, and his wrestling proved out to be a little too much for him. He took the L and Covington walked away with the bragging rights. Recently talking to Logan Paul on Impaulsive, he broke the silence on his loss and explained what he is going to do to rectify his mistakes.

“They take me out of my element– Jorge Masvidal accepts his wrestling isn’t good enough to hang with the best

He said, “With wrestlers, when they take me out of my element, and they’re able to keep pressing that hugging game, even when I do bring it to a neutral, I’m like, ‘F***, I spent a lot of extra power doing that.’ So knowing these things, I have a slight different plan and formula going forward to address these problems that I’ve had most of my career with the f****** wrestlers.”

“The best program in the country currently, for the last 10 years, is Penn State,” Masvidal continued. “I’ve got some good friends over there, so I’m gonna go spend some time in Pennsylvania, wrestle in the morning, wrestle at night, wrestle in the morning, wrestle at night, and stay doing that, because I don’t feel like I have to work on my boxing, not to be cocky, or my kicking. It’s there any time. I’ve just got to sharpen it up before fights. So one of my main plans right now is go wrestle day and night and see what comes out of it.”
