“Do your game”-Jorge Masvidal responds to Gilbert Burns claim of abandoning takedowns in the bout

Gilbert burns hold a number of records, including a second-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also won three times as the world champion in jiu-jitsu. Top ten welterweight fighters him and Jorge are engaging in a social media brawl in an effort to play matchmaker.

In response to the Tweet, Masvidal expressed interest in it and said, “Sounds excellent to me. Let’s see.” Burns has been a frequent user of social media, especially since defeating Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 just recently. At UFC 273, Burns eventually fell to Chimaev, and he is currently back on the call-out path.

Burns posted a picture of himself with Masvidal with a total of four pairs of eye emojis next to it on Twitter last month. The mentioned Tweet is shown below.

Gilbert is willing to fight him despite the contract’s no takedowns rule because he is so certain of his ability to strike. In an interview he stated, “I can sign the contract — no takedowns, Let’s just do it. I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to putting on a show. Another crazy fight and another crazy finish and I do believe I can strike with Jorge Masvidal.”

Masvidal responds by saying that if the UFC were to make him an offer to fight him, he would gladly accept it. However, he does not want Burns to give up any of his weapons, even if doing so results in the fight-ending on the ground. “I don’t want Gilbert to sign no contract that says no takedowns,Do your game, my brother. Do what’s gotten you here.”

Masvidal is still cautiously confident that he will be able to race once more before the end of 2022, but he doesn’t want to make any promises to rivals that he won’t keep.
