Jorge Masvidal remains a leading voice of influence in the politics of the MMA community. He has supported Republican leaders like Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis on multiple occasions. Florida has become a Republican state with the rise of DeSantis, and Masvidal being a Cuban-American may have influenced his community to vote Republican.
Similarly, Jorge Masvidal has supported former President Donald Trump despite his hatred of Colby Covington. Covington and Masvidal remain the biggest supporters of Trump on the UFC roster. The former President has visited both fighters on multiple occasions. However, after Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges recently, the former President visited Little Havana in Miami and ordered food for the entire restaurant. Masvidal greeted the former President and took pictures with him in the restaurant.
Masvidal has retired from the sport of MMA after losing to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Trump attended the event with Mike Tyson and Kid Rock to support Masvidal. Despite the loss, Masvidal took shots at Joe Biden and praised Trump and DeSantis in the post-fight speech. The entire arena joined Masvidal in trolling Biden and supporting Trump. Since then, Masvidal has made high-profile appearances on the podcasts of Jake Paul and NFL superstar Tyreek Hill.
On the other hand, Trump continues to counter the charges levied on him by the Democrats. He has continued his campaign to reach the rest of America by dethroning Joe Biden as the President. He faces fierce competition from Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis at the Republican primary. Only time will tell if Trump becomes the Republican nominee for the third straight time.
Jorge Masvidal still hates Donald Trump’s favorite fighter Colby Covington
Even after retirement, Masvidal will not patch things up with former champion Colby Covington. In an interview, he talked about his rivalry with Leon Edwards and Covington. He maintained that he had no ill will towards Edwards but hated Covington.
Masvidal said, “Colby’s just a different situation. That motherf***er, I just don’t like his a**. That dude and me will never be cool, just because he brought up my kids in numerous situations. He had like one or two pro fights, broke his hand, couldn’t f****ng afford rent or nothing.”
Masvidal and Covington fought at UFC 272, where Colby dominated Masvidal across all five rounds. Even after the fight, their beef continued as Masvidal attacked Colby on the streets. Currently, their legal case has yet to conclude.
