The American superstar Jorge Masvidal wasn’t impressed by the performance of Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. Chimaev faced Kamaru Usman in the co-main event of UFC 294. He won the fight via majority decision. During a conversation with MMA Mania, Masvidal said Chimaev did not stand a chance against a proper middleweight.

Jorge Masvidal said Chimaev got into a good position with Usman in the first round but didn’t do much in the fight later on. Accordingly, he said that Usman, with a full training camp, would have defeated Chimaev. Masvidal did believe in Chimaev’s ability at middleweight. Here’s what Masvidal said about Chimaev in the middleweight division:

I think when he finally gets in there with somebody with a proper training camp, which he hasn't fought anybody at 85(185lbs). I'm not trying to diss Usman but he'snot a ranked 85 player. He was a great 170 pound fighter but he's not ranked at 85. You put him (Chimaev) in there with a lot of these guys, I think they'll fu**in' hurt him bro.

Kamaru Usman took the fight against Chimaev on an 11-day notice. Paulo Costa pulling out from the fight led Usman to accept the short-notice fight. Chimaev took Usman down and controlled him for the first round. In the second and third, he didn’t take any risks and played it safe, according to Masvidal. Masvidal mentioned that Chimaev got gassed after the first-round spree.

Jorge Masvidal rose to superstardom after his 5-second knockout win against Ben Askren. It is still a record for the fastest knockout in the UFC. However, after his fight with Gilbert Burns, he retired from MMA in April 2023. Currently, he runs his fight promotion named “Gambred Bareknuckle MMA.” The company got its name from the fighter himself.

Alan Belcher faces Roy Nicholson for a heavyweight showdown in the main event of Gamred’s upcoming event. Masvidal is excited about the fight and went on Twitter to promote this event. He called bare-knuckle fighting as the rawest form of combat.

After a successful career in MMA, Masvidal has found success in promoting MMA. While it isn’t big enough globally, it is starting to get the attention it deserves. Bare-knuckle fighting is popular because of its violent nature, and the bio of the official page of Gamred MMA says, “The Most Violent Show On Earth.”
