UFC welterweight Leon Edwards is finally seeing his aspirations to reality as he has finally got his long-awaited, much deserving title shot against the reigning, defending UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 come August 20, 2022, in Utah. Edwards last fought seven years ago in his first fight against Usman. Ever since then, Edwards has been on a 9 fight winning streak with only one no-contest.

Back in 2019, Edwards and Masvidal won their respective fights under the same card back at UFC London (Fight Night 147) headlined by Masvidal and his then-opponent Darren Till. Masvidal won his fight via a spectacular knockout then and Edwards won his fight via split decision.

During the post-fight interview of the winners, Masvidal felt intervened by Edwards calling him out from a distant place from where Masvidal was giving his interview. So suddenly Masvidal walks up to Edwards and within a few seconds of talking, Masvidal lands 3 bare-knuckle punches on Edwards leaving the Brit fighter injured on the face.

Now Edwards has claimed that he will grant Jorge the first title shot to settle the score with him. Masvidal took notice of this, and he discussed his offer in his interview with BLOCK ASSET. He said, “See that’s another intangible. I gotta say no to fighting for the title? Like, hell no. I’ll get my ass in shape and get ready for this f*cking hooligan, you know? Give it all I got to break his face.”

He added, “So it’s a lot of tangibles. There are lot of things that can happen out there. I could be getting myself ready for No. 10 of the world and all of a sudden, I’m fighting for a world championship.”

“So what I’m telling you is that I don’t even know what I’m gonna do with myself. I’m unpredictable like that, you know? I’m gonna go with the best options all the time,” Leon concluded.
