“Let’s make this happen” Jorge Masvidal’s respectful call out gets a positive response from Gilbert Burns

Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal may have finally found his next viable opponent in Gilbert Burns. The former title contender is now on a three-fight losing skid and desperately needs to fight a top contender if he wants to challenge for the championship before the sun sets on his career.
Burns on the other hand has his stock at the highest point it’s ever been despite his most recent loss. Burns went on to lose a 3-round brawl against the newest welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev. Many fans considered it to be the best bout of 2022 yet and have also put forth an argument to support the claim that gilbert was the true winner of the fight.

At this point in their careers, they seem the perfect match-up for both as Masvidal gets an opportunity to stay in title contention while Burns gets to add more relevancy to his brand by beating a well-known name like Masvidal.

The duo initially agreed to the fight via Twitter when Gilbert called out Masvidal after his expected rematch with Khamzat fell off. Masvidal responded to the call out favorably and said it piqued his interest. Recently on an appearance at Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour, Masvidal revealed that a fight with Gilbert would mean a lot more to his career than a fight against Conor if he were to put the money aside
Today Gilbert reciprocated the sportsmanship by applauding Masvidal’s decorated career. “Over 50 fights! Crazy knockouts! Last losses was for the champ and the n1 contender!” said the Brazilian contender on Twitter accepting Masvidal’s latest call out.

He then asked the Miami native to take his time to recover so that they could produce these Twitter back and forths into a real action filled 15 minutes. He said, “Heal up let’s make this happen!”

Gilbert Burns was recently aiming for a rematch against Khamzat Chimaev believing it to be “inevitable” however it seems the Chechen may be moving on to bigger things involving an interim title. Masvidal on the other hand was aiming for a money fight against McGregor, something the Irishman brutally shut off while insulting Masvidal’s intelligence.
