Josh Emmett talks about Jon Jones heavyweight aspirations
Jon Jones is highly regarded among MMA fighters and Josh Emmett is a testament to it. The featherweight contender believes fighters like Jones are once in a lifetime and deserve to be in the category of Greatest Of All Times.
Like the entire MMA fanbase, Josh Emmett is eagerly waiting for the return of Jon Jones to the octagon. The former light heavyweight champion and the pound-for-pound king has not fought in the octagon since 2020. “Bones” decided that he would vacate the light heavyweight title for a surprising move to the heavyweight division. Though Jones has shown progress in becoming a heavyweight fighter with his workouts and weight gain, the fighter is yet to make an official announcement about his next fight.
Emmett, recently talking to Helen Yee in an interview shed light on who he thinks is the GOAT of MMA and his opinions on Jones’ move to the heavyweight division. Josh is also currently working to promote his upcoming fight against Calvin Kattar this weekend in the main event of UFC Fight Night which is held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

“He could get it done” – Josh Emmett on Jon Jones becoming the heavyweight champion
“I could see it, man. It is hard to go against people that have never lost and that are so talented and he is one of them. So a big fan of those guys and I think he could get it done. I think he believes in it,” said Josh talking to Helen Yee about Jones’s possibility to become the next heavyweight champion.
Jones last fought in the octagon at UFC 247 in a main event title fight against Dominick Reyes. The former champ got a successful title defense and since then has been working for a move to the heavyweight division. Recently UFC President Dana White also revealed that there is a possibility Jones fights former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic before he gets a go at the champion Francis Ngannou.
Jones also had a disagreement with the company regarding the money he was making and believed he needed to be treated better. Jones has been training with the former two-division champion Henry Cejudo at Fight Ready gym and has looked incredible in training footage as a heavyweight fighter.
